From February 7 to 11, 2025, Dr. Long Wei from the Research Institute of Subtropical Forestry,Chinese Academy of Forestry(RISF-CAF) visited the Coconut Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences(CRI-CATAS) for a five-day scientific exchange and collaborative activity.
During the visit, Dr. Long Wei engaged in in-depth discussions with the research team from the Oil Tea Camellia Research Center of CRI-CATAS on the cooperation and implementation of national key R&D projects. Both parties focused on cutting-edge topics such as tropical oil tea camellia (Camellia oleifera) stem segment asexual propagation technology and phenomics studies on the development of oil tea camellia new shoots. They also exchanged views on technical challenges and future research directions. Following the meeting, Dr. Long Wei and the researchers of CRI-CATAS conducted field tests and sample collection at a oil tea camellia plantation to gather data for subsequent studies.
The exchange activities also included live demonstrations and academic presentations to share the latest research achievements from both sides. The collaborative efforts of researchers in the field vividly illustrated the integration of theoretical knowledge and practical application in scientific endeavors.
This visit not only strengthened the collaborative foundation between RISF-CAF and CRI-CATAS in tropical oil tea camellia research but also provided new insights for advancing technological innovation and commercialization in the industry. Both institutions expressed their commitment to enhancing resource sharing and joint research initiatives to support the high-quality development of China’s oil tea camellia industry.
