The 2nd China-Europe Modern Leisure Agriculture Forum Held

On 2 August, the 2nd China-Europe Modern Leisure Agriculture Forum was held in Haikou with more than 200 participants from home and abroad to offer advices and proposals on modern leisure agriculture development under the premise of construction of China (Hainan) Pilot Free Trade Zone. Professor Li Kaimian ,Vice President of CATAS attended the forum and unveiled the plaque of Hainan Province HOME Program Workstation.

The forum was sponsored by HOME Program Office, China Association for Science and Technology, and jointly organized by Hainan Association for Science and Technology, China Society of Tropical Crops, Belgium Golden Sea Group, CAST-FCPAE European (Belgium) Base for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and European Overseas High-level Talents Liaison Station of Hainan Province. It is believed that this forum will promote the cooperation and communication in agricultural development, talents introduction and going global, scientific innovation and other aspects. 

Those VIP attending the forum are: Hu Yueming, Vice President of Hainan Association for Science and Technology; Zheng Hong, Vice President of Hainan Association for Science and Technology; Zhang Jianwei, Fellow of Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Hamburg and expert of Recruitment Program of Global Experts from Germany; Roland•Vancauwenberghe, Honorary Director-General of Flemish Land Agency and Managing-Director of ROLAND VC.; Gao Jiming, President of Belgium Golden Sea Group and expert of HOME Program, China Association for Science and Technology, etc.  

The theme of the forum was Construction of China (Hainan) Pilot Free Trade Zone • Modern Leisure Agriculture Promoting Rural Revitalization, with the emphasis on public policy of modern leisure agriculture, modern informationalization and the service of leisure agriculture promoting rural revitalization, and taking advantage of successful experience in management, technology, and marketing experience of modern leisure agriculture in Europe to promote transformation and upgrading of Hainan leisure agriculture to become considerate, informationalized, brand strategic, industrialized modern leisure agriculture.

During the forum, 5 invited experts including professor Zhang Jianwei made presentations focused on AI empowered innovation in leisure agriculturethe EU policy on rural development, rural policy in Belgium and ways of stimulation leisure agricultural development, the importance of a good environment and landscape in and around villages, and high technology agriculture, AI agriculture and agriculture industrial development, etc. The experts from Belgium Golden Sea Group, from Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology and Spice and Beverage Crops Research Institute of CATAS discussed the current situation and development strategies of China-European and Hainan Provincial leisure agriculture and rural tourism, and conducted case analysis and policy interpretation on the related issues. The forum evaluated and summarized the experiences and suggestions put forward by participants, which are expected to be referred to in policy decision-making for the development of modern leisure agriculture in Hainan Province.

    The forum was climaxed by the ceremony of signing cooperation intension agreement between the European representatives and the Hainan Provincial enterprises. Hainan Xingke Xinglong Tropical Botanical Garden Development Co., Ltd. of Spice and Beverage Research Institute of CATAS signed a modern agricultural technology cooperation development agreement with Belgium Golden Sea Agricultural Group, and Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of CATAS signed a joint agricultural artificial intelligence development cooperation agreement with Zhang Jianwei, Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Hamburg, Germany.
