On August 24, 2016 TBBRI hosted the guests from Donald Danforth Plant Science Center (DDPSC, Creve Coeur, Missouri, United States). Professor Zilong Ma, Chairman of Board of Directors, TBBRI and Dr. Thomas P. Brutnell, Director of DDPSC signed an agreement for co-construction of Tropical Crops Molecular Engineering Platform. Dr. Guo Anping, Vice President of Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences and other TBBRI directors  witnessed the ceremony.

Professor Zilong Ma and Dr. Thomas P. Brutnell signed the Agreement

Within the agreement framework, TBBRI and DDPSC will work together to study the tropical crops and subtropical crops such as cassava, maize and sorghum by using the genome editing and molecular engineering techniques. Donald Danforth Plant Science Center will provide training opportunities for researchers from TBBRI in plant transformation, molecular engineering technology and platform business.

Upon signing the agreement, Dr. Thomas P. Brutnell made a presentation on “Using comparative genomics to reveal fundamental and novel aspects of C4 evolution in panicoid grasses”.
