On December 12th, the 2023 China (Hainan) International Coconut Industry Forum opened in Wenchang city of Hainan Province, China. There were 59 international guests from 25 countries and international organizations, 64 well-known domestic and foreign coconut companies, as well as more than 230 experts and scholars from scientific research institutions, and government department representatives gathered to eye the future of the coconut industry in order to rev up the high-quality development of the coconut industry. Cui Pengwei, Secretary of the CPC Leadership Group of CATAS elaborated the achievements in S&T innovation of tropical agriculture and international cooperation in coconut industry technology. At the opening ceremony, Liu Pingzhi, Member of Party Leading Group of the Hainan Provincial People's Government, Sui Pengfei, Director-General of Department of International Cooperation of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA), Zhu Zuoyan, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and Mridula Kottekate, Assistant Director of the International Coconut Community(ICC) delivered speeches respectively. At the meeting, the Coconut Research Institute of CATAS signed 5 cooperation agreements with 8 domestic and foreign enterprises, including Kokonas Indastri Koporesen (KIK) of Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu Agricultural Cooperative, and Hainan Aerospace City International Trade Co., Ltd.
