On December 28th, the fourth reorganization Conference of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Tropical Crops and Products Standardization Technical Committee(hereinafter referred to as the Committee) was successfully held in Haikou, Hainan Province. Wang Linchang, a deputy l inspector of the Agricultural Reclamation Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Li Peng, a deputy inspector of the Agricultural and Rural Department of Hainan Province, and Dai Enhua, chief engineer of the Hainan Market Supervision Bureau, attended and spoke. More than 100 representatives from major research institutes, universities, quality inspection agencies, leading enterprises, and industry associations in the tropical provinces such as Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, and Hainan attended the meeting.The meeting was host by Xu Zhi, the Secretary-General of the Committee and the director of Analysis and Test Center of CATAS.
At the meeting, Wang Linchang stated that since its establishment in November 1991, approved by the Ministry of Agriculture, with the joint efforts of all members and experts, the Committee has built a relatively comprehensive tropical crops and products standard system in China and formed a series of internationally competitive tropical crops and products standards, effectively enhancing theChina’s tropical agricultural products’ quality and market competitiveness and laying a solid foundation for the tropical agriculture green and sustainable development.
China is comprehensively promoting the construction of a quality-oriented country and continuously expanding high-level opening up. The tropical agricultural products international trade will become more frequent, and market competition will become more intense. Wang Linchang hopes that the new Committee will focus on the following aspects in its work:
1. Strengthen the top-level design of the tropical crop standards and continuously improve the standard system.
2. Focus on key priority areas and accelerate the formulation and revision of a number of urgently needed and forward-looking standards for the industry.
3. Enhance the internal management and improve the quality and efficiency of standardization work.
4. Fully leverage the expertise of committee members to promote the implementation of the standards better.
5. Expand the dissemination and applicationchannels , accelerate the transformation of advanced productivity, and continue to contribute to better supporting the national rural revitalization strategy and serving the overall situation.
Wang Linchang read the approval of the 4th Committee, announcing that the 4th Committee was officially established. Xie Jianghui, the vice president of the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, was appointed as the Chairman of the 4th Committee. Certificates were issued to the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Fourth Committee. Xie Jianghui reported the work summary of the 3rd Committee and the work plan of the 4th Committee, outlining the achievements of the 3rd Committee and the next key work plan.

The conference reviewed and approved the “ Summary of the 3rd Committee Work and the 4th Committee Work Plan”, “Charter of the Committee ,” “Rules of Procedure for the Secretariat of the Committee ”,and the ‘Management Measures for the Use of the Seal of the Committee”.
To further enhance the standardization capabilities of the new committee, the conference invited experts from the Standards Policy and Regulations Department of the Agricultural Products Quality and Safety Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Quality Standards and Testing Technology Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and the Basic Standardization Research Institute of the Chinese Standardization Research Academy. They provided in-depth explanations on the management requirements for agricultural industry standards in China, key points of standardization across the entire modern agricultural supply chain, and pathways for international standardization.

The conference also held an exhibition themed 'Standards Supporting the High-Quality Development of the Tropical Crop Industry,' which showcased 13 standardized achievements, including natural rubber, cassava, and bananas. More than 10 enterprises and institutions participated in the exhibition, presenting over 30 types of products.'
