The opening ceremony of the "International Joint Laboratory for Quality and Safety of Tropical Fruits and Vegetables", which was co-established by Analysis and Test Center (ATC), Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences (CATAS) and Safety and Quality of Plant Products(SQPOV), French National Research Institution for Agriculture, Food and Environment (INRAE) was successfully hold at No.307 meeting room of ATC , CATAS, Haikou, Hainan, P.R. China,on 19^th, May,2025. The meeting was hosted by Professor Zhi XU , the director of ATC. Professor Kui LIU, the director of the International Cooperation Department of CATAS, attended the ceremony. The scientific and technological backbone and graduate student representatives of ATC also participated.

Both Director Kui LIU and Carine Renée Madeleine LE BOURVELLEC, the director of the SQPOV, respectively addressing the opening ceremony. Both sides expressed that the establishment of the International Joint Laboratory for Quality and Safety of Tropical Fruits and Vegetables is a new starting point for deepening international cooperation between ATC and  SQPOV, and also a new engine for innovation. Both sides will work together to promote the international development of research on the quality and safety of tropical fruits and vegetables.  

Director Kui LIU and Director Zhi XU , along with Carine LE BOURVELLEC, the director of SQPOV, and Sylvie Madeleine Marie BUREAU, the co-director of SQPOV, jointly unveiled the plaque for the International Joint Laboratory. At the meantime, Carine Renée Madeleine LE BOURVELLEC and Sylvie Madeleine Marie BUREAU has accepted the letter of appointment as the Senior Scientist at the International Joint Laboratory.

ATC and the French SQPOV have a solid foundation of cooperation. To fully leverage the strengths of both sides, effectively integrate superior scientific and technological resources, expand cooperation research opportunities in China and France, and promote industrial development, the two sides signed a cooperation agreement in January 2024, determining to jointly build the "International Joint Laboratory for Quality and Safety of Tropical Fruits and Vegetables".
