Key Technical Features: To address the severe damage caused by Phytophthora foot rot of black pepper and the limited availability of environmentally sustainable disease-management technologies, this technology systematically investigates the mechanisms underlying disease occurrence and spread, the mechanisms of biological control, and key disease-management practices.
Based on this research, it has established an integrated green management system centered on cultural practices and supported by biological control. The system provides effective and environmentally sustainable solutions for the prevention and management of Phytophthora foot rot in black pepper production.
Application Prospects: The technology has been demonstrated and adopted across a cumulative area of 200,000 mu (approximately 13,333 hectares) in major black pepper-producing regions. It has reduced disease incidence to below 1%, cut chemical pesticide use by more than 25%, and increased white pepper yields by 8%.
Over the past three years, the technology has generated economic benefits estimated at RMB 343 million. By reducing disease-related losses, lowering pesticide inputs, improving production efficiency, and protecting the environment, it provides strong support for the green and sustainable transformation of the black pepper industry.
